Privacy Policy
Dream Car Rental Pty Ltd ("we", "us") handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and your choices.
1. What we collect
- Booking and hire details: name, email, phone number, date of birth, address, driver licence details and your rental history with us.
- Payment details: card payments are processed by our payment provider. Our website does not store your full card number.
- Communications: emails, WhatsApp messages and phone calls with us. Calls to and from our office may be recorded.
- Website use: pages viewed, device and browser type, IP address and how you reached our site, collected through cookies (section 4).
- Vehicle tracking: some of our vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking devices that record the vehicle's location. We use this to locate a vehicle that is stolen, not returned or broken down, to help with damage and accident claims, and to assist police.
- CCTV: our yard is monitored by CCTV for security, and footage may be used to investigate damage, theft or incidents.
You can ask us general questions without giving your name, but we need your details to make a booking.
2. How we use it
To take and manage bookings; verify drivers; process payments, bonds and refunds; answer enquiries; handle tolls, traffic and parking fines, damage and accident claims; prevent fraud and theft; recover money owed; meet legal obligations; improve our website and service; and run and measure our advertising.
We send marketing only where you have agreed or the law allows, and every marketing message lets you unsubscribe. After your hire we may ask you to review us on Google; reviews are optional and published under Google's privacy policy.
3. AI and automated tools
Some WhatsApp messages are answered by an AI assistant, and our staff can see and take over any conversation. We also use AI tools to help summarise calls and messages. Decisions about your booking, bond or any claim are made by our staff. If you think an automated process has affected you, contact us and a person will review it.
4. Cookies and advertising
We use:
- Essential cookies to keep bookings working and the site secure.
- Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site.
- Google Ads, including remarketing. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to show our ads based on your past visits to our site.
- Advertising measurement cookies, our own and those of the advertising platforms we use, which record how you reached us (for example the ad you clicked) so we can tell which ad led to a booking. They are kept for up to 90 days.
When you book or enquire, we let the advertising platform that showed you the ad know that it led to a booking. To match bookings to ads, and to show or limit our ads to past customers, we may share your email address or phone number with our advertising platforms in hashed (scrambled) form.
Your choices: block or delete cookies in your browser; turn off personalised ads at myadcenter.google.com; opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. How Google uses data from sites like ours: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

6. Overseas
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States and the European Union.
7. Security, retention and data breaches
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, keep it only as long as we need it for these purposes or the law requires, then delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Access, correction and complaints
